“Arechigas Refuse to Leave Ravine”

May 15, 1959

The Hollywood Citizen-News reported that the Arechiga family refused to leave Chavez Ravine unless the city guaranteed it would not endanger their rights to their land. Councilman Edward R. Roybal acted as mediator. The front-page photograph captures a defiant moment in the family's stand.
