How to Cite This Archive
Students, teachers, researchers, and journalists are welcome to use materials from the Buried Under the Blue Archive in their work. Please credit both the archive and the original source every time you use an item.

Oral histories and descendant statements
Include the speaker’s name, the title of the recording or statement, the date it was recorded or published, and the Buried Under the Blue Archive with its web address.
For younger students
A simple citation is fine: the title, the date, and where you found it. Example: “Palo Verde Elementary School, 1949.” Buried Under the Blue Archive, buriedundertheblue.com.
Using images in your own work
Images are shared for education and research. To publish an image in a book, film, article, or exhibit, contact Buried Under the Blue first. Many newspaper images are owned by their original publishers, and permission may also be needed from them.
