Housing Authority letter to the families of Palo Verde and Chavez Ravine
July 24, 1950

On July 24, 1950, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles wrote “To The Families of The Palo Verde and Chavez Ravine Areas” that a public housing development would be built on their land and that their homes were included. The letter said their property would be appraised and purchased, and promised: “Later you will have the first chance to move back into the new Elysian Park Heights development.” That housing was never built. The land was later turned over for Dodger Stadium.
